Blogging from Portland, OR
Welp, I’m on my first business trip and blogging away in Portland. It is cold here, but not too bad all things considered. The conference started today so I’m busy trying to keep track of everything. Right now the most my brain can handle is where I need to be next. Speaking of which I need to see where I need to be tomorrow morning… We have a pretty full schedule over the next few days, so I think I’ll be coming home very tired. We really don’t have much spare time, so I don’t think that I will be seeing much of Portland other than the hotel.
This is my first trip away from Misha, we haven’t spent a night apart since the wedding, so it is a little strange to be traveling alone let alone having the entire bed to myself. So the cold Portland nights are just a tad colder. So I’m very much looking forward to going home and sleeping in my own bed, even though I’ve only just left.
As for my adventures, they started at the airport. Thankfully it wasn’t crowded and the lines were very short. Though we did have a bit of a show from a friendly clueless traveler. A woman arrived late for her flight, shopping bags in tow and her bag pretty much unpacked. It wasn’t her slightly see-through dress that caught the entire terminal’s attention, it was the lack of dress. Standing up, it wasn’t covering much, but as she bent over to pack her bags (as the friendly airline workers were trying to hold back their laughs as they tell her that if she doesn’t hurry she will miss her flight) she revealed her uncovered butt to the entire airport. And it didn’t just end there, she finally got her bags packed, and had to rush through security and the rest of the terminal to catch her flight. It was a wave of comments following her as she revealed herself to person after person making her way to the absolutely furthest gate from where she was. People were floored that she didn’t realize how much of her body she was “showing off”. Um, yeah. I thought a few hours later of how disgusting it must have been to sit on the airplane with well, nothing between me and the very well used seats. Ick! It was funny though, it was a shame to not share the very funny and priceless image of this clueless woman mooning the entire airport.
The rest of my trip has been pretty quiet compared to the colorful sendoff. My flight was early, and so far Portland has been pleasant. I have partaked in a bit of tax-free shopping. I checked out the Nike store and found a cute running skirt and top. I’m still undecided if I will keep it, but I did get them on clearance and they do fit. So we’ll see. I might wander down to the Apple Store, if I have time. Though I may have to find myself some warm gloves to protect my hands, since it is a bit cooler out and my hands were freezing from my short little walk this morning.
Welp, I think that is all for now. I was hoping to get in a bit of a workout at the gym while I was here. But it is $10 a day, and I’m not so sure that work will pay for it. Though I am excited about not having to pay for gas to commute to work this week. Whoot!
One day down, four more to go until I am back at home in my own bed!

A New Beginning
I have had a few blogs before, but it is time to start a new one and see where it goes. I’m not sure where to begin, but you have to start somewhere!
This year, well before the start of the year I decided to make several lifestyle changes to live a happy and healthier life. I have a wonderful and loving husband and at some point we plan on adding to our already growing family, and I want to be in the best place possible to enjoy every moment of it! I joined www.sparkpeople.com to jumpstart my new journey in improving my health and recently I made the big step of registering for a half-marathon up in San Fransisco. I have always wanted to do a marathon, and what better way than to achieve one of my goals than with an amazing group of women. So, with my husband’s support, we both signed up for the half-marathon and we have started training. We have been walking and running for a while, just not consistently. So I am hoping that this commitment will motivate us to add more miles and devote more time to exercising.
More about myself.. hmm. I have been happily married for a little over two years now, time really does fly! I’m a technical writer, and I love the outdoors, I just wish that I had the time to enjoy them a little more! Even though I have now lived in Southern California around three years now, I still don’t consider myself a local. At least I still feel like I’m making friends down here and finding my spot. I think that this is all for now, we’ll see where the road goes!

there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
