On the Road Again
Well, Misha and I had a great weekend. We left early Friday morning for my parents, to try and avoid as much heat as we could on the drive up. The drive wasn’t too bad, and the girls slept most of the way up.
That is, most of the way, the rest of the time they were eyeing the cookies.
Well, we arrived at my parents safe and sound, and it didn’t take Abby but 30 seconds in the yard to find the pool, and hop right in! Only problem was, the pool cover was still on, and as she stepped onto it, it sank beneath her feet. She ran faster and faster, to get away from it and made it more than halfway down the pool “walking on water”. She then decided that she had enough, and tried to go back on dry land. Well, Abby very quickly figured out that going to the edge of the pool cover meant a dunking.
The rest of the day was spent preparing for my Grandfather’s surprise birthday party. My mom and I were up to 2am cooking. Course when the cake “exploded” in the oven my mom and I were besides ourselves and laughing with tears streaming down our face.
Saturday arrived, and of course my Grandfather being who he is arrived at our house before everyone else. So it ended up being lots of little surprises as his friends walked in the door. I don’t know how he missed all the tables set up in the yard, but he did. Needless to say he was thrilled and the party, despite all of our concerns, went quite well.
It was a pretty hot day, so we decided to take the girls for a swim. Mollie has never been in the water, and Abby was still new to it, despite her adventure the day before. I’m not so sure Mollie really liked the water, but it cooled her off.
We spent Sunday relaxing by the pool and playing the Wii. Mollie did better with swimming on Sunday and Abby was quite tired from all the swimming (perfect for our ride home).
All too soon it was time to go home. We had planned on getting an earlier start out on Monday, but we ended up taking our time getting out the door and left a little later than we had hoped. So, with the girls sleeping in the backseat, we headed towards home.
Ends up, our drive home was a little more eventful. This guy:
The girls pretty much slept through the entire thing.
So what was a really nice trip ended up having a not so nice ending. We’re getting Misha’s windshield fixed on Friday, and we’ll send the receipt in with the photos, but I’m not sure that they can do anything about it. *grumbles*
Ah wells, it is onto another week at work here, and then a three-day weekend. Summer is almost here and I’m ready for another nap!
